A first-generation FD telephoto from Canon’s 1971 launch lineup, identified by its chrome-plated front ring and the early green O setting on the aperture ring. These chrome-nose copies were only produced for a short period before Canon moved to the black-front S.S.C. version, which makes this variant noticeably less common. The build is heavy, solid and fully metal, typical of early FD engineering. Optically it uses the same 5-element design later continued in the S.S.C. version, giving clean, sharp results with steady contrast. Collectors value the short production run and distinctive appearance, and it remains a reliable portrait and short-tele lens with a classic 1970s Canon look.
