The Hexanon AR 57mm f1.2 was the fastest lens Konica ever made, the flagship of the Hexanon line and originally priced many times above the standard 50mm. This is the final AE version from the mid 1970s with the rubber checkered focus grip and Konica's later colour dynamic coating, the most refined of the four versions made. Wide open at f1.2 it has that classic super speed character, a sharp core wrapped in a gentle glow with backgrounds melting into a smooth wash of colour, and it tightens up beautifully as you stop down.
Hexanons have a serious reputation among collectors, Konica made far fewer of these than Canon or Nikon made of their f1.2 rivals, and clean examples are getting harder to find. The AR mount's short register also makes it one of the easiest vintage lenses to adapt, a simple adapter puts it on Sony E, Fuji X, Nikon Z, Canon RF and Micro Four Thirds with infinity focus retained.
