Very Good
The Nikon FA was the technological flagship of Nikon's compact SLR line, and a genuine landmark. Released in 1983, it was the first camera in the world with matrix metering, Nikon's Automatic Multi-Pattern system, alongside all four exposure modes, program, shutter priority, aperture priority and full manual, and a titanium honeycomb shutter reaching 1/4000s. A hugely capable body that still feels ahead of its time.
Paired here with the Nikon Lens Series E 50mm f1.8, a compact standard lens, sharing its optical formula with Nikon's celebrated AI-S pancake. Small, light and seriously sharp, the Series E line was Nikon's lightweight range and this 50mm is widely regarded as its best.
